Noha Zayed is a self-taught photographer, designer and creative director. Born in 1979, in Cairo, Egypt growing up between Egypt and the United States. She is greatly influenced by and interested in heritage, tradition, culture, identity and time and how these are perceived and continually changing through travelling extensively around Egypt, exploring the country and chronicling its forgotten and changing landscapes, architecture, vernacular art forms, and people.

Her first photo book Khatt: Egypt’s calligraphic Landscape was published in London in 2019 by Saqi Books. The book surveys and features the continued use of hand-painted calligraphy throughout Egypt. She co-curates the popular Arabic Typography blog, a crowdsourced initiative on Instagram cataloging found Arabic typography from all over the world. She has participated in group exhibitions in the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennale, Dubai Design week and in a solo show in Kodak Passageway in Cairo. Noha’s other creative endeavors include documentary film, music production and managing her family’s banana farm in Cairo.
